Storage Brunswick Park Health and Safety Policy
This Health and Safety Policy sets out the principles and arrangements that Storage Brunswick Park follows to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees, contractors, customers and visitors. It applies to all areas of our storage facilities and related removal and handling activities carried out on or from our premises.
Our Health and Safety Commitment
Storage Brunswick Park is committed to managing health and safety to a high standard. We aim to prevent accidents, injuries and ill health by identifying risks and putting in place sensible control measures. We expect everyone on site to act responsibly and to co operate with our safety arrangements at all times.
Management will provide adequate resources, information, instruction and supervision to maintain safe conditions for storage, loading and unloading, and the movement of goods and vehicles.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Storage Brunswick Park complies with all applicable health and safety legislation and associated regulations. We monitor changes in law and recognised industry guidance for storage operations and removal services and update our procedures and training as needed. Employees and contractors are required to follow these procedures and to work within the law at all times.
Responsibilities for Health and Safety
Overall responsibility for health and safety lies with the senior management of Storage Brunswick Park. Managers are responsible for implementing this policy within their areas, ensuring that risk assessments are carried out, safe systems of work are in place and staff are trained and supervised appropriately.
Employees must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions. They must follow all safety instructions, use equipment properly, report hazards and incidents promptly and co operate with any investigation or corrective action.
Contractors, including any removal or transport teams operating on our site, are required to comply with this policy, follow site rules and ensure that their own work practices and equipment meet our standards.
Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work
We carry out risk assessments for key activities including storage of goods, manual handling, lifting operations, use of trolleys and equipment, vehicle movements, loading and unloading and working in and around storage units. The results of these assessments are used to develop safe systems of work and site rules.
Risk assessments are reviewed regularly and whenever there are changes in layout, equipment, work practices, or when an incident indicates that existing controls may be inadequate.
Safe Storage and Facility Conditions
Storage Brunswick Park maintains clean, orderly and well lit premises to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls. Aisles and access routes must be kept clear at all times, with emergency exits unobstructed.
Goods must be stored in a stable and secure manner. Heavier items should be placed at lower levels where possible, and racking or shelving must not be overloaded. Hazardous or restricted items must not be stored in units except where expressly permitted and controlled by our site rules.
Regular inspections of common areas, access routes, lighting, fire safety equipment and structural features are carried out to identify and correct any defects.
Manual Handling and Use of Equipment
Manual handling is a key aspect of storage and removal activities. To reduce the risk of injury, we promote safe lifting techniques, use of mechanical aids and sensible load limits. Employees receive appropriate instruction in safe manual handling and are expected to ask for assistance with large, awkward or heavy items.
Any equipment supplied by Storage Brunswick Park, such as trolleys or lifting aids, must be used in accordance with instructions. Defective or damaged equipment must be taken out of use and reported immediately so that it can be repaired or replaced.
Vehicle Movements and Removal Operations
To support safe removal services and customer loading, clear procedures are in place for vehicle entry, parking, loading bays and pedestrian walkways. Drivers must follow site speed limits, directional signs and instructions from staff. Engines should be switched off when vehicles are parked for loading or unloading unless otherwise required for safe operation.
Loading and unloading operations must be planned and controlled to prevent falls, crush injuries and damage to property. Where removal teams operate on site, they must coordinate with our staff, follow designated routes and avoid blocking emergency access points.
Fire Safety and Emergency Arrangements
Storage Brunswick Park maintains appropriate fire detection and, where required, fire fighting equipment. Fire exits, evacuation routes and assembly points are clearly signed and must be kept free from obstruction.
Staff are trained in fire safety, including how to raise the alarm and assist with evacuation procedures. Customers and visitors must follow any instructions given by staff in the event of an emergency and leave the building promptly when requested.
Accident, Incident and Near Miss Reporting
All accidents, incidents and near misses on site must be reported to Storage Brunswick Park staff as soon as possible. This allows us to provide any necessary assistance, record details, meet our reporting duties and identify measures to prevent recurrence.
Investigations may involve speaking to those involved and any witnesses, reviewing CCTV where available and examining equipment or the environment. Findings are used to improve our risk controls, training and procedures.
Training, Information and Supervision
Employees receive appropriate induction and ongoing training relevant to their role, including safe storage practices, manual handling, emergency procedures, reporting of hazards and any specific risks related to removal and transport support.
Site rules and safety signage provide additional guidance to customers, visitors and contractors. Supervisors are responsible for monitoring work practices, correcting unsafe behaviour and ensuring compliance with this policy.
Consultation and Continuous Improvement
Storage Brunswick Park encourages feedback from employees, contractors and customers on health and safety matters. Concerns can be raised directly with management or recorded through our reporting systems.
This Health and Safety Policy is reviewed regularly to ensure that it remains effective and reflects current operations, legal requirements and best practice for storage and removal related activities. Revisions are communicated to staff and relevant contractors, and updated procedures are implemented as needed.
By working together and following these arrangements, Storage Brunswick Park aims to maintain a safe, secure and professionally managed environment for everyone who uses our storage and associated services.
